Hardcopy Security
innerActiv is the first of its kind to ensure your data remains secure when it moves to ink and paper
Security products are great at inventorying and protecting your sensitive digital assets,
but what about when those assets turn into prints, scans and copies?
innerActiv is the first and only insider threat solution uniquely equipped to integrate directly into printers and MFDs (multi-function devices). This innovative capability enables the analysis of data content during copying, scanning, and printing processes, providing unprecedented protection for digital-to-hard copy data.
In today's increasingly digitized world, the presence of paper remains undeniable from a security standpoint. The exclusive focus on safeguarding digital data has raised concerns regarding data exfiltration or disclosure, particularly concerning hardcopy documents. The advent of work-from-home initiatives has further complicated matters, with employees having the ability to print sensitive data on personally-owned devices.
How can organizations effectively monitor the movement of data from digital to hardcopy formats, track its frequency of use, and identify instances of reformatting into new digital projects?
Enter innerActiv: a groundbreaking solution offering insider risk analysis on data in both digital and paper formats, including the transitions between the two. By seamlessly embedding into printers and multi-functional devices (MFDs), innerActiv gains visibility into prints, scans, and copies executed directly on these devices or transmitted from endpoints. This data not only enables organizations to detect critical risk events but also contributes to user behavior and workflow analysis, alerting analysts to potential evolving threats.
of organizations experienced data losses due to print security shortfalls (2023)
7 out of 10 managers have seen or picked up confidential documents left on the printer
A user prints a contract from their laptop in the office
20 copies of the contract are made at the MFD
An at-home employee starts a print job containing PII to their personal printer
An R&D user scans a new design and sends it to USB at the MFD
How It Works
innerActiv reviews the contents of the print requests, scans, and/or copies in real-time and identifies any protected information such as intellectual property, confidential business information, customer data, PII, or other red flags. If data is detected, the requests are handled according to policy and alert data is sent for analysis and review.
Data access is related back to the user, feeding individual risk scores
Auditing and tracking is made available
Critical incidents are alerted with full forensics and forwarded immediately to analysts or IR administrators
File events are correlated to other actions, activity data, etc to identify risk
